Belgians are a beautiful little bird that are extremely easy to own. They are extremely well suited for children due to their gentle and easy natures.

They are a "true" bantam meaning they have no larger counter-part and thus throughout history have been of the current approximate size.

This is also a very ancient breed with paintings and writings describing these little kings of the poultry world as far back as the 1600's with some suggestions of the breed being available a century earlier. Unfortunately their origin is also in dispute due to a lack of record keeping etc.
